The best dog-friendly cafes in Yangon

Most cafes in Yangon aren’t so friendly to our furry pals, but there are a few places that will welcome doggie guests with open arms and cuddles.

Myanmar Mix scoured the city for the best cafes where you can take your canine companion for a flat white and sandwich. Just don’t expect them to pay.

This small café in Yaw Min Gyi is popular for its waffles, which have undoubtedly been sampled by the pooches who accompany customers there. The owners themselves have three pugs who can sometimes be seen managing the place.

My House Café

This Sanchaung establishment has become a local favourite since opening one year ago. Located inside a two-storey building with cute decorations, it serves reasonably priced burgers, salads, and desserts. But most importantly, I visited there with my friend and his two Pomeranians recently: verified hound haunt.

Mary’s Breakfast and Brunch Restaurant

Mary’s serves a killer English breakfast, which your four-legged friend can drool over. The owner, Honey Oo, recently returned from a stint in England and welcomes dogs to the mostly outdoor café, based in a little compound near Inya Lake.

This little hideaway is a bit out of town but it serves good Korean food and has a variety of coffee and cakes. Your discerning pup will appreciate the tasteful décor and chilled atmosphere.

Of all the Gloria Jean’s in Yangon, only two have an outdoor area and these are the branches which allow pets. The outlets are at Myanmar Plaza and Times Link.

Freedom Café loves pets and even launched a “Catpuchino Café” section where you pay 5,000 kyats to play with felines. They allow people to bring their own pets on certain hours. Give them a call or check out their Facebook page to check the next slot.
