Civil servants on the fence about joining the civil disobedience movement have one more day to decide, according to a representative of the ousted National League for Democracy government.
Zaw Wai Soe, who was appointed the head of three ministries by the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, called for lists of CDM participants and non-participants in the civil service by 12am on 7 March. Those who do not join have ignored the will of the public, he said.
The plan – which was helpfully outlined today in military-run media – aims to pressure government workers who remain at their desks to quit in order to grind the junta’s administration to a halt.
“Decide if you will stand by the people or by the dictators and killers,” Zaw Wai Soe posted on Facebook.
The CRPH plans to announce 10 public holidays in honour of those who were killed during the 2021 Spring Revolution. The body of elected politicians also issued a statement on Thursday telling tax collectors to suspend their work until 30 September.
