A Myanmar couple tied the knot at a quarantine centre on May 17—a date they deemed too auspicious to pass up.
The bride, Zarchi Lin, her older sister and her father travelled from their home in Magway region’s Pauk township to meet the groom in Monywa township, Sagaing region on May 7, reported The Voice.
But the party was unaware they would need to quarantine for 21 days at a high school under coronavirus measures because they travelled from another region, according to ward administrator Nyo Win.
On the special day, the couple signed the marriage certificate while remaining a few feet apart before the groom, Wai Phyo Aung, returned to his home in Monywa.
“Although they are married now, there was no honeymoon night because of social distancing,” said Nyo Win.
Zarchi Lin along with her sister and father celebrated the occasion with other people under quarantine at the school, added Nyo Win.
