Video: Dozens injured after Yangon bus crashes into homes

Dozens of people were injured when a Yangon bus crashed into a residential area in Mayangone township on Sunday.

The number 16 Yangon Bus Service (YBS) vehicle careered off a highway overpass at about 4.40pm and landed on a cluster of thatched and tin-roofed homes.

Eight men and 14 women—both passengers and people in the homes—were injured and taken to North Okkalapa hospital, the Myanmar Fire Services Department posted on Facebook.

Police are pursuing legal action against the bus driver, reported news outlet 7Day News, while a crane was used to remove the bus.

Video shows a mostly mask-free crowd gather to watch the rescue services—an ill-advised move considering the current pandemic.
