An earthquake caused buildings to sway in Yangon on Tuesday night.
There were no immediate reports of injuries but the quake reportedly left buildings leaning on one another.
Facebook users posted photos of a crowd gathered on Ar Thaw Ka street, Tamwe township where the quake had pushed an apartment block against the next building.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology puts its magnitude at 4.1 and said its epicenter was located 13 kilometres (about eight miles) from Taikkyi, the northernmost township of Yangon region.
It struck at 9.54pm and had a depth of 10 kilometres.
“Everything shook like crazy,” said Paing Zin Min Latt, who lives in Golden City condominium on Yankin road in Yankin township. “As I live on the 32nd floor, I was scared to death.”
Local media has reported that a magnitude 5.8 quake in March, 2017 originated from a small fault in Taikkyi township.
Myanmar is used to earth tremors but experts have warned that Yangon is ill equipped to cope if a major earthquake strikes the city.
