This is the moment a man travelling on Yangon Bus Service (YBS) smashed open the door after the driver said he could not let out passengers at the traffic lights.
The footage was taken on the YBS 99 that drives from the western outskirts of Yangon on Dagon Ayar Highway to South Dagon in the east on Saturday (June 26) at 8.44pm.
It shows a young man just after he reportedly asks the driver to allow him to get off under the 8-mile junction flyover.
Back in the old days, he probably could have just slipped through a hole in the floor, but this is the era of YBS and its shiny new Chinese buses.
We can deduce that the answer was definitely a negative when the man reaches for an emergency hammer and—drawing a gasp from his fellow passengers—smashes the door.
With a phone and umbrella in one hand, he then front kicks the glass four times.
Although the audio is unclear, he appears to tell someone in Burmese, “Yeah, I did that. So what?”—Surprisingly calmly for a man who is kicking through a bus door.
Then he cusses and slips his foot back into his kicking shoe before heeling the exit another four times.
Able to push the right door open, the unidentified passenger steps outside onto the shattered glass and goes on his merry way.
YBS operator Omni Focus uploaded the video, which has got more than 485,000 views. Underneath the post, it gave an explanation of the circumstances and stated it had informed the police of the incident.
