High flyers: This new condo tower has Yangon’s first residential helipad

These days a pool and gym just doesn’t cut it.

But throw a rooftop helipad into the mix and you may have yourself a deal.

At least that was the thinking of Kabar Aye Executive Residence, which has become the first residential tower in Yangon to be topped by a landing area for helicopters.

We are allowed and ready to land helicopters,” a spokesman for the development told Myanmar Mix.

But rather than whisking away condo owners for pleasure and business, the helipad will be used solely “for emergency evacuations and rescues” to avoid the city’s traffic-clogged streets, he explained.

The tower on Kabar Aye road stands as one of the tallest in Mayangone township, with a 32-storey building that also includes a shopping mall, pool, cinema, gym and spa.

Of the 115 apartments, 32 are currently occupied, said the spokesman, adding that construction for the whole tower cost between US$50 and $60 million.

Yangon-based Living Square Company is developing the project, whose residences are sized from two to five bedrooms.

Monthly rent ranges from $2,700 to $4,500 with the more expensive condos coming complete with a maid’s room, according to the Kabar Aye Executive Residence website.

The apartments also have an earthquake resistant design, claims the website—another handy feature in Yangon.
