Driver killed after car plunges into Mandalay Palace moat
A 23-year-old man has been killed after the car he was driving crashed into the moat of Mandalay Palace on Tuesday (August 25).
Kanada Thurain lost control of the Mitsubishi Pajero between 19th and 66th streets in Aungmyethazan township and crashed into the 230ft-wide ditch, according to state media.
Firefighters and rescue volunteers retrieved the driver and took him to Mandalay General Hospital but he was pronounced dead soon after arrival. The vehicle has since been pulled out of the moat and police are investigating the incident.
