Chickpea curry
Chickpea curry. (Jules)

This is one of my favourite dishes and can work nicely for vegetarians (just replace the chicken powder with a little sugar). It’s a sweet meal that’s easy to chew, so grandpa doesn’t need to worry about putting his dentures in either.

Preparation time: 10-20 minutes
Cooking time: 1 hour
Overall time: 1 hour 10-20 minutes

Ingredients

1 cup of chickpeas

3 pieces of onion

1 diced tomato

1 tablespoon of oil

2 tablespoons of salt

1 tablespoon of chicken powder

A little turmeric

Instructions

  1. Wash the chickpeas and bring them to boil, then put them on a low heat for 30 minutes. When the chickpeas are cooked, remove them from the stove .
  2. Put the pan on the stove and when it’s hot, put in the oil and fry the onions until they turn golden brown (be careful not to burn them).
  3. Then add the diced tomato and fry it until it's soft.
  4. Throw in the turmeric and then the cooked chickpeas, salt and chicken powder, mix it together and cover it with a pan. Leave that for three minutes and then serve.
