A punchy Burmese side

Popular also for lunch in Myanmar, the chilli and salt mix is for spicy food lovers. It ticks one third of the ‘spicy, bitter, sweet’ must-haves at any Burmese meal.

Ingredients

30 grams crushed roasted chilli

One tablespoon of salt

Two bulbs garlic

Half teaspoon of chicken powder

Two tablespoon of dried shrimp

Three tablespoon of oil

Instructions

1. Soak the dried shrimp in water for five minutes and then drain the water. Peel the garlic mix it in with the rest of the ingredients. Grind it all with a mortar until it has turned to powder. Put it on a plate, add the oil and serve.
