A 100-year-old Yangon woman has fully recovered from Covid-19, according to a local politician, making her the oldest known patient to beat the virus in Myanmar.

Thein Khin was discharged from treatment centre Yoma Yeiktha and returned to her home in Insein township on Thursday (October 8), said the township’s regional MP Wai Phyo Han in a Facebook post.

She was first admitted to a local quarantine centre where she tested positive on September 23 after a swab test.

“She is also the oldest person to return from the treatment centre safely and successfully,” wrote Wai Phyo Han.

Myanmar has recorded 22,445 cases, 6,366 recoveries and 535 deaths, mostly in Yangon region.
